How it Works

Our systems use a dual-input logic gate to decide when to draw power. The system only moves to “Active Melt Mode” when two specific conditions are met simultaneously:

Temperature Input: The ambient air is below $+3$ °C.
Moisture Input: The sensor detects snow, ice, or melt-water on the roof or in the gutter.

If it’s -20°C but bone-dry?
The system stays off.

If it’s $+5$ °C and raining?
The system stays off.

This precision is how we optimize your OpEx (Operating Expenses).

Key Components of the Electrek Logic Layer

The NEMA-4X Automated Controller

The “Command Center.” This industrial-grade housing is waterproof, dust-proof, and built to withstand Calgary’s extreme temperature swings.

Digital Interface: Provides real-time status updates on system activity.

Master Electrician Calibrated: We program the specific “Trigger Points” based on your home’s unique orientation and “Shadow Dam” risks.

Remote Moisture Sensors

These are the “Eyes” of the system. We place these discreetly in the gutters or on the roof surface. They use a heated grid to detect frozen precipitation, sending an instant signal to the Command Center to begin the melt cycle.

The Manual Over-Ride (The “Chinook Switch”)

Every system includes a manual bypass. While the automation is world-class, Calgary weather is unpredictable. If a massive Chinook is coming and you want to pre-clear your gutters, you have total control.
