Intelligence in Every Inch
Carbon-Polymer Matrix
The system’s intelligent core. As temperatures drop, the microscopic carbon paths in the polymer shrink and connect, generating heat precisely where ice is detected. It is a ‘smart’ material that requires no manual adjustment.
Parallel Co-Extruded Bus Wires
Unlike cheap ‘series’ cables that fail if one section breaks, our parallel dual-wire architecture ensures unwavering power delivery across the entire roofline. Consistent, reliable, and engineered for zero cold spots.
Load-Responsive Efficiency
Energy is never wasted. The matrix only draws the wattage required by the local temperature of the roof. It naturally throttles down during Chinook winds and ramps up during deep freezes, protecting your home and your utility bill.
Long-Life Engineering
Designed for Calgary’s 40°C swings. Encased in a high-density, UV-stabilized polyolefin jacket, this system is built to survive decades of mechanical stress and thermal cycling without degradation. This is a permanent architectural solution.
Engineering Your Ideal Protection
Three tiered system configurations tailored to Calgary’s complex freeze-thaw cycles.
MANUAL PROTECTION
Industrial Hardware, Human Control
Utilizes the same durable Self-Regulating cable as our automated systems.
- Manual plug-in operation: activate the system only when the forecast calls for it.
- Ideal for secondary structures, sheds, or homeowners who are frequently on-site.
- Maximum circuit length: 120 Feet.
FULL PROTECTION
The Fully Automated Smart-Matrix
Integrated Ambient & Moisture Sensors for 100% autonomous operation.
- The system wakes up the moment snow hits the roof and sleeps when it’s dry.
- Zero-intervention safety: ideal for commercial properties and busy homeowners.
- The highest level of energy efficiency; 24/7 protection with zero wasted wattage.
SEMI-AUTOMATIC
Precision Control, On-Demand
Includes a dedicated wired control panel for centralized power management.
- Toggle the system from the comfort of your garage or mechanical room.
- Eliminates the need for exterior plugs; engineered for permanent electrical integration.
- The perfect balance for Calgary’s frequent freeze-thaw Chinook cycles.
Every Electrek system is custom-designed, calibrated, and certified to ensure peak performance before the first freeze.
Industrial Grade System
Self-Regulating Matrix
Adjusts heat output inch-by-inch based on roof temperature.
Zero Fire Risk
Will not overheat or short, even if cables are overlapped.
20+ Year life
Industrial-grade polyolefin jacket designed for decades of service.
Master Electrician Certified
Precision-engineered, tested, and calibrated.
Standard Heat Tape
Constant Draw
Stays “on” at 100% power regardless of the weather.
High Hazard
Significant risk of shorts, overheating, and roof fires.
Disposable
Typically degrades and fails within 2–3 Alberta winters.
DIY / Uncertified
Often installed without proper electrical consideration.
Understanding Your
Freeze Protection System
Everything you need to know about the engineering, safety, and operation of your Electrek installation.
How much electricity does the system use?
Because of the Self-Regulating Matrix, the system only draws significant power when it is actively melting ice. In moderate temperatures or during dry Chinooks, the draw is minimal. It is significantly more efficient than standard heat tape.
Will the cable damage my shingles or roof?
Absolutely not. Unlike hardware-store heat tape that can overheat and melt roofing materials, our systems are co-extruded and industrial-grade. They are engineered to be safe for asphalt, metal, rubber, and flat roof architectural surfaces.
Can I turn the system on or off myself?
Yes. Depending on your chosen protection level (Manual or Semi-Automatic), you can control the system via a dedicated switch or control panel. For Full Protection systems, the process is 100% automated via ambient and moisture sensors.
Can it be left on all winter?
Yes. Our automated Full Protection systems use sensors to wake up only when needed. For Manual or Semi-Automatic systems, we recommend activating them when snowfall or “freeze-thaw” cycles are in the forecast.
Does this system prevent future ice dams?
Yes. By maintaining a clear drainage path from the roof’s edge through the gutters and downspouts, the system ensures meltwater reaches the ground before it can refreeze. This eliminates the ‘damming’ effect that causes water to back up under your shingles.
How soon can I get the system installed?
We recommend booking your Technical Assessment during the summer or early fall. Our schedule fills rapidly once the first freeze hits Calgary. However, we do offer emergency installations depending on roof conditions and safety access.
Does it work on my roof type?
Absolutely. Our systems are safe for asphalt shingles, metal, rubber, and flat roofs. Unlike hardware store alternatives, it is engineered not to damage architectural materials even if overlapped.
Is it really fire-safe?
Yes. Standard cables can short if they cross over themselves. Our industrial-grade system is co-extruded to prevent overheating and shorts, making it the safest option for residential and commercial structures.
